Simply put, the law of attraction states that when certain energy is put out, it draws things of the same nature. In other words, think of it as “like brings like”. It’s commonly used to bring money, health or happiness, but it’s also very effective in drawing love and romance.

Love Yourself First

Because this law revolves around love bringing love in, it only makes sense to start your quest for love with yourself. All too often, we look outside ourselves for growth and happiness, when the keys are within ourselves. Because we are all complicated individuals, we must learn to forgive ourselves of misdeeds past and love ourselves as we are now.

A good starting point is to care for our health. Eat well, exercise and sleep. Once your body starts feeling better, you’ll be better able to work on the psychological process of finding love for yourself.

As your body begins to feel better, you can begin work towards bettering your mental and emotional health. Take breaks when you need to, and try not to feel badly about it. Many studies have demonstrated the positive effect even short rest periods have on work performance, and the US federal government mandates a certain amount of down time during worker's shifts for a reason.

Watching your health is a huge step towards discovering how to love yourself.

What kind of love do you want?

Before you can start on this journey, you first need to figure out what exactly it is that you’re seeking. There are many different kinds of love needed to round out our lives. However, because we are each at different points in our lives and have our own unique personalities, our needs are highly individualized.

Are you looking for a partner in life? Do you want a passionate lover above all else? Are you yearning for a best friend to share everything with? Is romance or a soul mate type of relationship what you’d like?

It will also help to determine why you want that type of love. Would you like passion because you need to feel wanted? Do you want a best friend to have someone one which to depend, and who can depend on you? Are you looking for the stability that comes with long term romantic relationships?

Once you determine the nature of the relationship you want, you’re ready to move on to the next step.

Visualization is Important

Once those important two first two steps are out of the way, it’s time to visualize the type of life we want and the personality traits of our future partner once we manifest the new relationship.

It’s tempting to concentrate on the physical features of your future partner, but it’s more important to concentrate on what emotional and social needs we want to fulfill. Are blue eyes really more important than a respectful nature or good sense of humor? Envision activities you’d like to enjoy doing with this new partner. Allow yourself to feel the emotion associated with the activities and the presence of this individual. Putting that energy out will draw more of it to you.

Practice this exercise at least two times a day – more if you’re able to. Wake up with it, and go to sleep with it in mind. You can also daydream about it in the shower or while doing necessary activities which require little concentration.

Affirmations can also help with this as well, because writing them, speaking them and seeing them throughout your day help to remind you of the energy you’re drawing into your life.

Hone your Focus

Focus is something many people have problems with. Most of our lives are very hectic and it can be difficult to keep stray thoughts out of your mind. There are exercises you can do to improve your focus. Meditation is helpful for some people, while things like yoga, tai chi, Qi Gong or martial arts are better tools for others.

During my study of yoga and meditation, I’ve discovered that instead of trying to ignore the stray thoughts, it’s easier to acknowledge them, promise myself to come back to them later and return to what I was originally focusing on. Oddly, dismissing them like that made it far easier to do what I was already trying to do.

There are also forms of moving meditation, as alluded to when I mentioned the diceplines before. I've spoken to many runners who practice a form of meditation while on the treadmill or on a trail. The endorphins released during excersize can help enhance focus. Depending on the type of exercise you're doing, focusing on bringing love into your life as you're doing it will help make it easier to manifest.

Have patience

One of the most important things to remember is that the universe works in its own time. When it comes to energy work, your goal will take the shortest possible path, but few things are instant. A seed needs time to grow into a flower, and this is no different.

Wisdom About Gratitude from Oprah

Be grateful

Each and every one of us has some form of love in our lives already. During the process of drawing more love into your life, take a moment to look at the love already in your life. Pause to feel grateful for those who love you. If you feel so moved, contact your loved ones and express your gratitude and affection to them at least once. Through these actions, you’re putting out more of the right kind of energy to draw what you need to you.

There are many other methods of using the law of attraction to bring love into your life as well. Experiment with different ways of using this law if the ones you first stumble upon don’t seem to work for you. What works for one person may not work for others.

Retrain Your Brain

One of the core concepts overlooked when it comes to affirmations is that they're a tool toward altering your thought patterns for the positive. Often, people find themselves sinking into a spiral of negative, self defeating thought, especially when it comes to matters of love.

Quite possibly the best way of using affirmations is to turn to them as soon as you recognize a negative thought forming. Negative thoughts are a part of life, so it's healthy to acknowledge them, but they must be released. The spiral begins when they're dwelt upon.

An affirmation like, "I'm a wonderful person and I am worthy of love", or something of your own making, comes in after you recognize that negative thought. By concentrating on this prefabricated positive idea, you're encouraging your mind to let go of the unpleasant idea and to take a different route.

It's not easy, but it is possible. Remember to have patience with yourself, as it can take a very long time to change a lifetime of thought patterns.
